Named after the spring of inspiration that runs through the small oasis of Toudgha, Morocco. Here, the headwaters of Toudgha are said to heal any ailment and locals line up to fill their jugs from water that pours from limestone cliff walls. This place is magic.
The river feeds ancient garden beds the grandmothers, mothers and daughters of weavers have tended to generation after generation. The natural plant dye found in this textile is from plants harvested here the Toudgha spring so effortlessly nourishes. In a dry desert landscape, this is a blessing.
I came across this textile in an old mud house, also known as a Kasbah. Here, a few families united as a weaving cooperative 7 generations ago and had been creating beautiful works of art ever since. An oasis within an oasis :). This textile is special in every way.
We chose to upholster this ottoman to give functionality and honor to this Berber textile. Prop your feet up, use as a side table or certainly your furry friend will find it to be the perfect nesting spot.
